This course is
designed to give people with limited computer expertise the skills to
do what companies such as Telstra, Qantas, Virgin
Blue etc
do with their email marketing programs.
What you will learn at the course
-
How to:
use Microsoft's Expression Web* web page authoring software to create HTML emails containing backgrounds, colour, images, fonts, layout etc.
(You'll also be able to use Expression Web to maintain your
own web site)

How to create and maintain a
customer/contact database (we'll use Microsoft
Access if you don't already have a
suitable customer/contact database)
- How to
automate the sending of your emails to
your customers/contacts
- How to
automate the receipt and processing of
responses
- How to
automate the removal from your database
of "Unsubscribe" requests
*Why we use Microsoft's Expression WebBecause Expression Web has the same user
interface as Microsoft Office it's easier
to learn than Adobe's Dreamweaver and
other web authoring applications
Standards-compliance:
HTML emails must be standards-compliant to be viewed by all
email software users, and Expression Web is
fully standards-compliant
Cost: Expression web costs
only $145 for an upgrade (and
being a
Microsoft Office user you
only need to purchase an upgrade0.
The academic version is only
$85 but to purchase it you need to
present a student or teacher ID number to
show that a
student or teacher will be using it.
What are the prerequisites for doing the course
Skills
and experience: The only skill
pre-requisite is a
working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and
Microsoft Office. If you have basic
competency in Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Word you
are competent to complete
this course.
Resources:
You need to bring with you:
- A computer to work
with. The computer must be sufficiently
powerful to run Microsoft Expression Web,
i.e. a minimum
700 Mhz processor and 512MB RAM.
The computer should have the following software loaded
on it: - Microsoft Access
OR Microsoft Excel (or both).
Version XP or
later is suitable (i.e. it can be
Access or Excel XP, 2003 or
2007) - Microsoft Expression Web (any
version)
It is preferable that you bring your own
computer, as your computer will be fully
emailing-ready upon completion of the course.
However if you do not have a suitable
computer Pedacomp is able to provide a laptop
for you to use during the course.
Course duration and timing The
course lasts for 2 days. It starts at
9:00 AM
each day and finishes at 5:00
PM
each day. There are two
twenty-minute coffee and tea breaks
each day at 10:30 AM and 3:30 PM. A
45-minute lunch break is also
taken at 12:30PM each day. Full
morning and afternoon tea, coffee and
refreshments and lunch are provided.Course fee The course fee
for the two days is
$995 plus GST
Early-bird discount An
early-bird discount of 10% is allowed for
bookings made and paid for by the early-bird
date (The
early-bird discount reduces the course fee to
$895.50 plus GST).
